Colorado, California, New Mexico, Arizona with Julia :: December 2002/January 2003
A Christmas-day romp down I-10 to find no German food in the German town of Fredericksburg. I was helping to move a conservative Chinese girl several years my senior (scandalous!), from Houston to Los Angeles. She insisted on driving her well-taken-care-of BMW sometimes, but I drove most of the way. Dropped my car at Austin's Bergstrom Airport and scooted west across three deserts. A night in Alamogordo (scandalous!) after a starry, snowy descent from Cloudcroft. A morning at White Sands, and an afternoon near the summitt of Mount Graham. Los Angeles held nothing for me. Many hours spent in West LA, eating expensive food and talking to newscaster-wanna-bes about over-interpreted Zen philosophy. Liars, cheats, thieves. A Fairfax High School swap meet, my camera was stolen, thus ends the pictures. My regular camera survived, and this is what was used for the other January pictures at Colorado Bend and Enchanted Rock.
